Places of Interest in Ahmedabad

There are many places of interest in Ahmedabad especially the mosques that are excellent examples of inspired workmanship, the Jain temples, and other historical buildings with unique stone step and ornately carved wooden balconies and more.

Ahmedabad has a number of architectural monuments and edifices of historical importance which has become common places of interest in Ahmedabad.

Here is a list of some of the places of interest in Ahmedabad:

  • Jama Masjid is the biggest mosque of the city built by Sultan Ahmed Shah in 1423.

  • Rani Rupmati's mosque is a fine example of the blend of the Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture built in the ancient times.

  • Rani Sipri's mosque is also a specimen of Hindu art in a Muslim monument built in the medieval India.

  • Sidi Saiyad's Mosque built by the slave of Ahmed Shah, is historically important for its twin windows which have beautiful carved stone.

  • Sidi Bashirs mosque is yet another popular monuments in Ahmedabad that lies out side the Sarangpur gate.

  • Tombs of Ahmed Shah and his Queens, situated in the eastern gate of the Jama Masjid is the historical structure in square shaped and has perforated stone windows.

  • Ahmed Shah's Mosque is one of the earliest mosques of the city, built in 1414.

  • Bhadra Fort and Teen Darwaja are built in 1411 by the founder of the city Ahmed Shah.

  • Huthising Temple is the Jain shrine built by Shri Kesarising Huthising in 1848.

  • Shahi Bag is the the royal garden constructed by the by the great builder, Shah Jahan now houses the State Governer.

  • Sabarmathi Ashram is the famous ashram of Mahatma Gandhi by the Sabarmati River.

  • Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary is the famous bird sanctuary of the city that shelters a varied species of birds such as migratory birds-ducks, geese, pelicans, and flamingoes.
