Punjabi Language in Amritsar



Among the different languages that are spoken by the people in the city of Amritsar, Punjabi secures a main place. The majority of the city is Sikhs and they speak Punjabi. Although the Sikhs consist of the major part of the population of the city of Amritsar, the other people in the city speak other languages like English, Hindi, Urdu and Maajhi.

The most spoken language in the city of Amritsar and in its surrounding rural areas is Maajhi, which is a dialect of Punjabi. In Amritsar, the dialect of Punjabi, Maajhi is regarded as the Standard Punjabi.

The language of Punjabi is also sometimes spelled as Panjabi and it is a central Indo-Aryan language. It is mainly spoken in the state of Punjab and its different districts. The Punjabi Language is also spoken in the adjoining states of Punjab in India. Beyond the boundary of the country, the people in the country of Pakistan also speak the language.

The Punjabi Language is one of the fourteen regional languages that have been recognized in the constitution of India so far. Punjabi is a language that is spoken by people in various places on earth. The speakers of this language are spread all over the world.
