The term “Livestock” points to a cattle of “domesticated animals” who are raised in a controlled and scientifically enriched environment for commercial reasons. An offshoot of “Agriculture”, animal husbandry or cattle rearing has turned out to be a profitable business for many people of Andhra Pradesh. The Government of the state has taken several strong steps to enlighten the people who are engaged in the business of animal husbandry.
Livestock includes all kinds of domesticated animals like cow, goat, sheep, horse, water buffalo, yak, pig and rabbit, that has a commercial use and is economically profitable for the owner. The farmers of Andhra Pradesh has recently started this business of rearing animals for commercial purpose. Most of the cultivators have well established “farms” for nurturing and rearing the animals. The Government of the state has proposed an insurance for the “Farm Animals” to save the poor farmers from loss of their cattle.
The “farms” for rearing of cattle are technically very advanced. The “farms animals” of Andhra Pradesh are fed with processed and hygienic food that ensures healthy growth of the cattle. The animals are deliberately spawned or cross- bred for a better breed of cattle. The technically sound and modernized farms of Andhra Pradesh adopt many “Disease Management” strategies to cope with the fatal diseases that affect the livestocks quite often through out the year. All the animals are given medicines and are vaccinated to prevent them from any kind of heath ailments.
The state of Andhra Pradesh gains a considerable amount of revenue from “Livestock” or cattle rearing with little investment from the owners of the business. Most of the products of the “Livestock” business like meat, fiber, dairy products have high economic value in the market which enables the busissmen to earn considerable profit.
