The Rivers and Lakes of the state play a major role in the lives of the people of Andhra Pradesh. Krishna and Godavari are the two important rivers of India that flow through this state. This river is responsible for the the major part of the growth and prosperity of the state. The rapid industrial growth has also been possible due to the presence of the several Rivers and Lakes in the state.
Thus the lake in a way earn revenues for the state tourism department, apart from serving other purposes. Hussain Sagar is also one of the most important land marks in Hyderabad. It was built on one of the tributaries of river Musi by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali. Hussain Sagar was built during the time of the great builder Ibhrahim Quli Qutb Shah in 1562 to solve the problem of water crisis in the state. It is now popularly known as Tank Bund. The lake is now surrounded by a number of parks, temples and entertainment sites. One of the most attractive sites of Hyderabad, Lumbini Park, is situated near th famous Hussain Sagar Lake.
Thus the Rivers and Lakes of Andhra Pradesh are not only important for the water they help the state with, they also enhance the beauty of the state.
