Andhra Pradesh Governor

The honorable Andhra Pradesh Governor is Sri Rameshwar Thakur. His Excellency Sri Rameshwar Thakur is also the honorable Governor of the state of Orissa. He resides with his wife, Srimati Narmada Thakur and holds office in the Raj Bhavan in Andhra Pradesh.

Prior to being nominated the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Rameshwar Thakur was twice elected as the member of the Rajya Sabha in the sessions from 1984 to 1990 and from 1990 to 1996. He also held office of the Union Minister of State for Finance in the Revenue section, Rural Development and Parliamentary Affairs. He has led several delegations abroad. Among these he say been the Chairman of the World Congress of Scouts & Guides Fellowship in 1999. The Fifteenth Asia Pacific Gathering in Colombo in 1984 and the Indian Delegation to the 17th General Assembly Coventry in London in 1987 was led by him.

Hailing from the state of Jharkhand, the Andhra Pradesh Governor, Sri Rameshwar Thakur has completed his Masters Degree and his Degree in Law from the Universities of Patna and Calcutta. He also studied in the The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in New Delhi. He has delivered lectures also in these universities. His Excellency is also the founder of several trustees and organizations. The Hari Devi Smarak Nidhi is a charitable trust established in 1965. The Gadadhar Mishra Smarak Nidhi is another trust established in 1965 at Gandhigram. Born during the struggle for independence, Sri Rameshwar Thakur participated in the Quit India Movement in 1942 and was arrested in the year 1946 after remaining underground in the santhal region for several days.
