Andhra Pradesh State Parties

The "State Parties"of Andhra Pradesh are a very well organized, co-ordinated and cohesive political group that works collectively for the further development of the state. Industrially, Andhra Pradesh has matured over the years which in turn has contributed to the financial strengthening of the state. However all this has been possible only because of the political stability of the state. The State Parties of Andhra Pradesh rose above the narrow political desires and selflessly contributed to the well being of the state.

The state of Andhra Pradesh is blessed with two regional or state parties, the members of which nurture a strong feeling towards the culture and tradition of the state.

The "State Parties" of Andhra Pradesh are:
  • Telugu Desam Party
  • Telangana Rashtra Samiti

The "Telugu Desam" Party was launched by the veteran film star of the "Telugu Film Industry" Mr. N.T.Rama Rao in 1982 on the 29th of March to counter the growing influence of the then ruling "Congress Party". The "Telugu Desam" Party gave "Telugu" language its due importance. Ever since the emergence of the party, the people of Andhra Pradesh became all the more conscious about their culture and tradition. This attitude of the people led to the rapid development of the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The "Telangana Rashtra Samiti" party was carved out of the "Telugu Desam" party in the year 2001 by its mentor Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao. The party aims at creating a separate state of the "Telangana" region. The "Telangana Rashtra Samiti" party is one of the main parties of the coalition Government of the state.

Both the "State Parties" have highlighted the rich cultural tradition of the people of Andhra Pradesh and has carved out an important place for the state in the political history of our country.
