St. Joseph's Cathedral-Hyderabad is one of the most beautiful churches in the city of Hyderabad. It is situated in the Gun foundry area in Hyderabad. The elaborate architectural work on the building is simply marvelous. One unique feature of St. Joseph's Cathedral is the bell tower on the top of church. The open bell tower contains five bells, which are huge in size. It is an awe-inspiring sight for the tourists.

The St. Joseph's Cathedral has a huge central hall that has the capacity to fit in as many as five hundred people at the same time. Inside the church, there is an imitation of the famous painting, the 'Pieta' by Michelangelo. The style of Italian architecture is predominant in the making of the St. Joseph's Cathedral in Hyderabad.

The most exquisite feature of the St. Joseph's Cathedral needs mention. The gigantic bells atop this cathedral have been imported from Italy. In the year 1892, the bells were attached to the church. These bells specially tuned bells and on these can be played a number of hymns. Avery important and indispensable part of St. Joseph's Cathedral, the bells not only sacred, but are also seen as safeguards against lightning and thunderstorm. Even now, the church bells ring vigorously during an impending storm and people become aware of the forthcoming danger. Previously, as watches were not much used, these bells used to rang to indicate time. At present, the tradition of driving out evil spirits by ringing bells is still practiced by the priest.
