Tirupathi

Located in theChittor district of the southernAndhra Pradesh ,"Tirupathi" is a celebrated destination of the Hindus which draws devotees from all over the world. The famous temple of Tirupathi is dedicated toLord Venkateswara who is believed to rule over the seven hills of the area. Also known as the "Lord of the Seven Hills", Lord Venkateswara is one of the most popularly Hindu God who has an unparalleled sway over his devotees.

The splendid temple of Lord Venkateshwar is an architectural marvel of the by gone days. Almost all the ruling dynasties of South India worshiped the Lord with complete faith and devotion and made huge donations to the temple authorities for the maintenance of the temple. In the later years the reins of administration of the temple went to the Sri Seva Dossji of the Hatiramji Mutt at Tirumalai. However, at present the administration lies with the "Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams" under the "Charitable and Religious Endowments Act, 1966" .

The temple authorities have framed some rules for the devotees which are to be strictly followed to avoid any inconvenience. The devotees have to purchase ticket before they are allowed to step into the sacred premises of the temple. The temple administration allows the "Darshan" of the holy Lord twice a day. The temple bears a heavenly look during the "Aarti" of Lord Venkateswara. The visit to the temple fills one with an utmost sense of delight and satisfaction.

The holy place of Tirupathi houses numerous temples which also draws many visitors through out the year. Some of the important temples of Tirupathi, apart from the temple of Lord Venkteswara are:

• Sri Kodandaramaswami Temple
