The bird kingdom in Arunachal Pradesh comprises of around 500 species. Out of this many species are rare and exclusive in Arunachal Pradesh while many are facing the danger of extinction. To preserve such birds the forest department has set up two national parks at Mouling and Nandapha and eight wildlife sanctuaries at Kamlang, Itanagar, Kane, Pakhui, Dibang, Mehao, Eagle's Nest and Daying Ering.
The bird kingdom of Arunachal Pradesh is richly populated with various types of pheasants. You can find their species all around from the plains to the high altitudes. In the western Arunachal Pradesh, you can look out for the aerial species of great and wreathed hornbills, emerald cuckoo, black-necked crane, ward's trogon, rufous necked, beautiful nuthatch, etc.
Amongst the bird kingdom in Arunachal Pradesh, the most important of all the members who are facing the danger of extinction are the slater monal, Bengal florican, white winged wood duck, and temminck's tragopan.
