Profile of the present Chief Justice in Arunachal Pradesh
Honorable Justice Jasti Chelameswar, the present Arunachal Pradesh chief justice, is a native of the Krishna District at Andhra Pradesh. Having graduated in Physics from the prestigious Loyola College of Chennai, he pursued legal studies at the Andhra University of Vishakhapatnam. Soon after he passed in 1976, he started to practice in Hyderabad under Dr. B. Bhimaraju, senior advocate and former public prosecutor at the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Thereafter followed a very illustrious judicial career in various government capacities. After working as a government pleader for Home Affairs in High Court in 1988 and 1989, Sri Chelameswar became the Senior Counsel in 1995. He became the Additional Advocate General in later that year. Before being appointed as the chief justice of Gauhati High Court, and thereby becoming the chief justice of Arunachal Pradesh, along with Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura and Mizoram, he worked as the Addtional Judge at the High Court in Andhra Pradesh.With his vast experience and efficiency, as well as an illustrious career in law, Sri Chelameswar is considered to be the perfect choice as Arunachal Pradesh chief justice. The chief justice at Arunachal Pradesh is at the helm of the circuit bench of Gauhati High Court that operates at the state.
