Government departments of Arunachal Pradesh take up the responsibilities of the governance of the state. An important part of the state executive, each department take up the responsibilities for a particular area of the state's governance.
All the Government departments in Arunachal Pradesh are headed by a minister from the council of ministers from the state, which is usually chosen from among the members of the ruling party of the state or its ally. Arunachal Pradesh government departments have to report to the Chief Minister who is the main head of the State Government. The heads of the respective government departments at Arunachal Pradesh cannot implement a decision without the prior approval of the Chief Minister of the state.
Following is the list of the various government departments of Arunachal Pradesh with a brief note on their functions :
- Planning Department : It formulates new plans and policies in regard to over all development of the state.
- Civil Aviation Department : This government department of Arunachal Pradesh looks after the air network of the state including the maintenance, development and formulation of new plans and policies for the airport, airways, etc.
- Public Health Engineering Department : To improve the health conditions in the state by offering proper drinking water and proper sanitation facility to maintain hygiene all around the state.
- Information and Public Relations and Printing Department : this government department of Arunachal Pradesh is vested with the responsibility to ascertain that the right information is being disseminated among the common people.
- Tourism Department : To maintain the tourist destinations, and arrange more facilities for the tourists who visit the state. The main aim of this department is to increase tourism in the state by preparing policies for further development of the state tourist locations.
- Police Department : To check the action of the state police and maintain peace and security in the state.
