The governor of a state is the repository of the executive powers of the state, which are exercised by him in accordance with the Constitution of India. He has the right to be kept informed of the decisions of the state ministry.

General Joginder Jaswant Singh was nominated to attend the prestigious National Defence Academy. He has done all the professional courses to include Defence Services Staff Course, Senior Command, Higher Command and National Defence College Courses. Besides, the governor has also written a thesis on "Sino-Indian Border Dispute." He has also contributed articles to regimentals and other journals. He is an excellent shooter, plays basketball, squash and golf. The governor is acquainted well with Arabic and French.
As a governor
As a governor, is taking a keen interest in the affairs of the state. He is laying special emphasis on the development of law and order in the state owing to his military background. After the esteemed general took his office in 2008, the state of Arunachal Pradesh has improved drastically. His deep love for the state and the people have earned him the title of "Soldiers General and People's Governor".
