In Arunachal Pradesh, Changlang District is located between Lohit district in the north and the Tirap district in the south. The total area covered by Changlang District is 2362 sq kms. The population of Changlang District is about 125,334 with the density of about 27 per sq. km. The local residents are mainly tribes like Singpho, Tangsa, Lisu, Nocte and the Tutsa. Reports are there that Changlang District has become home to various refugees like Chakma and Bodo Hajong.
In spite of its potential, Changlang District till date is and economically deprived part of Arunachal Pradesh. The economic development of Changlang District has not been impressive. In fact, the infrastructure of Changlang District demands a lot of shuffling for better outcomes. The communication facilities of Changlang District is does not enjoy the modern developments.
In recent years, Changlang District has been in news for being its tumultuous political atmosphere. Reportedly, the Naga Militants infiltrate into the district and hold public as well as secret demonstrations to entice the locals to make the district a part of Nagaland. Local residents of Changlang District are harassed beyond optimum level and the violence spread by these asocial communities are in way productive.
