The Arunachal Pradesh economic profile mainly comprises of two different sectors, namely industry and agriculture. The most important facet of the agricultural profile of Arunachal Pradesh is shifting cultivation. This type of cultivation is also called Jhuming locally. This type of cultivation forms a major part of the economic profile in Arunachal Pradesh, with most of the people earning their livelihood from it.
The other major part of Arunachal Pradesh economy, that is, industries, have also gained formidable importance. Arunachal Pradesh thrives on a number of medium-scale industries. These industries mainly are focused on the products derived from the forest. A handloom industry is gradually developing in Arunachal Pradesh.. The main products of this industry are bamboo and cane work. There are some cottage industries like bamboo and cane and products, weaving and silversmith.
There are some industries that manufacture cement and process various kinds of fruit. The minerals found in the state include limestone, marble, pyrite and graphite. The coal fields of Namchik-Namphuk and Arunachal Pradesh Mineral Development and Trading Corporation Limited are doing good business.
