Arunachal Pradesh infrastructure department has a long way to go to fully exploit the the economic resources of the state. Starting from forests, rivers, natural oil to coal and minerals like limestone, graphite - the resources can work wonders for the economy, if they are paired with a well-planned infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh.
Roads are being constructed to link up the rural villages with the district headquarters and towns. These roads are called 'link roads'. These roads are the only means that can eradicate the infrastructural problem of communication in the state.
The Rural Works Department is looking after the construction work of these roads. The roads that are meant for a moderate weather are gradually being developed in such a way that they can be used in all kinds of weather. The airport closest to the state is located at Lilabari in Assam, at a distance of 67 kms from the city of Itanagar.
In case of energy infrastructure, the company called GMR Energy has undertaken a project of a hydro power plant with a capacity of 160 MW. This project has been undertaken in in Seppa district. The government of Arunachal Pradesh is also promoting and developing renewable and non-conventional sources of energy.
The government is also currently focusing on the widespread rural use of energy. The development of energy infrastructure of Arunachal Pradesh include the following: thermal, solar and photovoltaic installations, easy-to-use chulha, biogas, electrical and thermal usage of biomass, improving the water mill technology and wind mapping and monitoring.
