The Lower Subansari District came into existence from 13th March of 1980. According to the census 2001 the total population of this district was counted 98,244 in numbers which constitutes only 45.01% of the total population of the state Arunachal Pradesh. The three tribes naming Nishi, Hill Miri and Apatani mainly dominate the Lower Subansiri District in Arunachal Pradesh.
The name of Lower Subansiri was derived from the name of the Subansiri River which is famous for its golden colored sands. The climatic state of this district depends on its response towards different seasons which may show variations in different places. Agriculture is the prime source of economy for this district and other major industries also include forestry, mining, construction, trade, manufacturing etc.
People in large numbers visit to this district every year to explore the places like Dolo Mandu, Midey, Pine Groove, Tarin Fish Farm, Taley Wildlife Sanctuary, Ziro Putu, Kile Pakho, the Shiva Lingam in Kardo forest, the Hydel project of Ranganadi etc. The courageous travelers may go deep into the dark green forests to explore the beauty of nature there. Many rare wild animal species like civets, hornbils, tigers, leopards, elephans are the basic inhabitants of these forests.
