The Arunachal Pradesh NGOs are involved in quite a good deal of social work. Three major NGOs in Arunachal Pradesh are Oju Welfare Association, Dony Polo Mission School for Hearing Impaired and World Wide Fund for Nature-India.
The Oju Welfare Association is housed at Oju Craft Center, close to the police station of the place called Naharlagun. The chairperson of the association is Ms. Binny Yanga. The Oju Welfare Association started functioning from the year 1979. This non-profit association focuses on working for the progress of the children belonging to the underprivileged section of society. They also work for the advancement of the woman folk in general.
The Dony Polo Mission School for Hearing Impaired is located at Chimpu, close to the Arunachal Pradesh Forest Corporation in the capital city of Itanagar. The chief co-coordinator of the organization is Mr. P.K. Mishra. This organization mainly aims at specially training and rehabilitating the disabled people. The association also carries out activities from to time for handling other issues of social concern.
The World Wide Fund for Nature-India is situated at the capital city of Itanagar. The primary goal of this association is to impart environmental education and create a mass awareness about the environmental situation around us. With the continual degradation of the natural environment, such organizations are gaining more and more importance not only in the Indian society but also in the global context.
