Christianity in Arunachal Pradesh

The tribes that dwell in the 'land of the dawn lit mountains' have embraced many different religions which includes Christianity in Arunachal Pradesh. As a matter of fact, this entirely new resurgence is attributed to a couple of forces like the strong promotion carried out by the a large number of Christian missionaries who had descended to the land of Arunachal Pradesh for many different reasons.

Some credit should also be given to the large proportion of promoters who also played a crucial role in ushering in Christianity in Arunachal Pradesh. Even the school founders who primarily aimed towards the establishment of their schools accompanied by the youngsters who had come in search of jobs had also encouraged Christianity at Arunachal Pradesh.

The political parties like the Rashtriya Sevak Sangh and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad also influenced many local folks to embrace Christianity across Arunachal Pradesh. But this upsurge was a result of a loose law that came into existence in the year of 1978, which created a sort of mass hysteria as a hefty bulk of the people got converted. However, this mania was ultimately put to check when some restrictions were applied to it.

As, the craze of modernization and westernization crept into the households of the occupants of Arunachal Pradesh, the number of Christians in Arunachal Pradesh also witnessed a marked augmentation. Only recently, this 'conversion explosion' was put to a end by the efforts of the Hindu missionaries and the formulation of an anti-conversion law.
