Jomu


Amongst all the varied number of festivals feted by the members of the different tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, Jomu is undoubtedly one of the most delectable and spectacular. It is the individuals belonging to the Monpas tribe who celebrate Jomu with great pomp and elegance.

As a matter of fact, Jomu in Arunachal Pradesh is a sort of a festival that is marked by various family members getting together and having a very nice and jolly time. It is needless to mention that the chief source of income of the members of the various tribes across the 'land of the dawn lit mountains' is agriculture. Thus, marks the sowing season that lasts from the fifth month Monpas through to the sixth month. This date is scheduled according to the lunar calender.

In this festival of Jomu at Arunachal Pradesh, inhabitants of the various rural settlements jaunt to a destination known as Gompa. Great stress is laid to another point which is that the villagers have to put on some gorgeous outfits for this occasion. It is equally important that the eldest member of the family also blesses the Jomu of Arunachal Pradesh with his or her precious presence.
