Siron Molo Sochum is the main festival of the Nishi tribe. They celebrate the fest in the month of Ram Po-Lo as per the Nishi calendar every year. The festival is celebrated by the Nishis so as to have good crops in the coming year.
Nishis have a belief that more their guests get satisfied by the food and drink offered to them, the more will be the crops at their place. Hence, they treat their guests with arms open. The day Siron Molo Sochum at Arunachal Pradesh is celebrated, the singers in the village sing songs that describe the history of the Nishi people. During the festival, the goddess of crops is worshiped and is prayed to fill up the granaries with more grains in the coming year. Another amazing belief of the Nishis is that if some food stuff goes missing during the celebrations of Siron Molo Sochum and footprints of some animal is found, then it is believed that the goddess of crop came there and it symbolizes that in the coming year there would be more crops than the previous year.
During Arunachal Pradesh Siron Molo Sochum, you get to taste some mouth watering delicacies cooked by the ladies of the households. The main food includes apeng, meat and rice. They treat their guests with much respect and seek blessings from them for good and more crops in the coming year.
