Bhalukpong


While scheduling a trip to Arunachal Pradesh, one should not overlook one of the most famous tourist destinations of this state, Bhalukpong. Bhalukpong has got a huge popularity with the nature lovers and intrepid travelers worldwide.

The famous Kaziranga National Park is located in Bhalukpong of Arunachal Pradesh. This park came into existence in the year 1940 and the UNESCO has recognized it as a site of world heritage. The famous one horned rhinoceros that belong to the prehistoric period are seen here.

The Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary which is located in Bhalukpong in Arunachal Pradesh is a green paradise on earth. The sanctuary stretches over an expanse of 862 sq. km. which preserves many endangered wild lives. The Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary is a happy nesting place for Bengal tiger and great pied horn bill. Along with sambar, peacock, leopard, binturong, gaurs, this sanctuary also preserves many rare species of birds which include the white winged wood duck.

The Tipi Orchidarium of Bhalukpong at Arunachal Pradesh is situated near the Bharati River, that holds the largest string of orchids in India. More than 500 varieties of orchids which have been found in different parts of Arunachal Pradesh are seen in this Orchidarium. Thus this is an ideal place for scientists who nurture their techniques of biotechnology in order to give birth to new orchid varieties.

For smooth communication to Bhalukpong, the nearest airport is located at Tezpur. Railway station is located in Rangapara, bus and car transports are available from Tezpur to Bhalukpong.

October to May is the best time to visit Bhalukpong.
