The Assam Agricultural Universityis a state university established in the year 1969. Recognized by the UGC, the Assam Agricultural University is also a member of The Association of Indian Universities. The university is situated in the state of Assam and is one of the most reputed universities of the country.

The Assam Agricultural University offers undergraduate courses in agriculture and provides degree in Bachelor of Science on graduating. The university also has provisions for postgraduate studies in the field of agriculture, fishery science, veterinary and home science. Post graduation in sericulture is open for students who have majored in the subject of zoology or those with the graduation degree in the stream of agriculture. The duration of the post graduate course is two years. The university has four registered faculties operating under it. They are:
