State Commissions

The Assam State Commissions aid the government in the governance of the state of Assam. They are statutory bodies that work ensuring the welfare of the citizens of the state of Assam. There are various state commissions in the state of Assam.

The government of Assam is aided by the State Human Rights Commission that ensures that the rights of the citizen of the state are not encroached upon. The commission is headed by the chairman of the commission whose telephone address is stated below:

The government also has the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission that works under the chairmanship of Shri Pranab Kumar Bora. Established in the year 2001, the commission works for the regulation of the tariff for electricity and ensures proper regulation and efficient distribution of electricity in the state.

The government of Assam desires to set up the state information commission that will be led by the State Chief Information Commissioner and will comprise of ten more state commissioners. The powers and functions of the state commission will be to receive complaints and to order inquiries and acquire information. The center will be established in the place desired by the government.
