Airlines in Assam

The operating airlines in Assam attract a lot of passengers due to the strategic location of Assam. Assam is the gateway to the North Eastern States of India, also known as The Seven Sisters. Regular flights connect Assam to the rest of India. The carriers include the Indian Airlines, Sahara Airlines, Air India, Alliance Air, Jet Airways, IndiGo Airlines and Air Deccan. The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi airport in Guwahati is the major hub for flights to and from Assam. It has international flights connecting Guwahati to Bangkok and Singapore. The other airports of Assam include Tezpur Airport, Dibrugarh Airport, Lilabari Airport, Silchar Airport and Rowriah Airport.

Indian airlines with Alliance Air connect Guwahati with Kolkata and Delhi by regular flights. The Indian also flies to Imphal from Guwahati on Thursday and Sunday and to Bagdogra on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The airlines of Assam include Jet Airways that fly daily to and from Kolkata, Delhi, Bagdogra and Imphal on Wednesday and Friday. Sahara Airlines fly to and fro between Guwahati and Delhi on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Air Sahara also connects Guwahati directly with Dibrugarh, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Bangalore and Mumbai.

Alliance Air flies between Agartala, Bagdogra, Aizawl, Dimapur, Imphal and Delhi. Air Deccan connects Assam with Bagdogra, Delhi, Bangalore, Dibrugarh and Kolkata. IndiGo Airlines has flights to and fro from Imphal, Delhi, and Kolkata. Jetlite operate its carriers between Dibrugarh, Delhi and Kolkata and flies to Bangalore via the Delhi flight. Airlines in Assam also includes Kingfisher Airlines, which has services between Agartala, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai, Imphal, and Hyderabad. Recently SpiceJet is also connecting Kolkata and Delhi to Assam.
