The operating airlines in Assam attract a lot of passengers due to the strategic location of Assam. Assam is the gateway to the North Eastern States of India, also known as The Seven Sisters. Regular flights connect Assam to the rest of India. The carriers include the Indian Airlines, Sahara Airlines, Air India, Alliance Air, Jet Airways, IndiGo Airlines and Air Deccan. The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi airport in Guwahati is the major hub for flights to and from Assam. It has international flights connecting Guwahati to Bangkok and Singapore. The other airports of Assam include Tezpur Airport, Dibrugarh Airport, Lilabari Airport, Silchar Airport and Rowriah Airport.

Recently SpiceJet is also connecting Kolkata and Delhi to Assam.
