An ancient Shiva temple lies attached to the hermitage and attracts many peoples, especially the Shaivites. This 18 th century temple in Basisthashram is believed to be the last Ahom monument in Guwahati. The Shiva temple sees mass gatherings during the festivals related to Lord Shiva. Shiva Ratri is celebrated with great pomp and people from far off places come here to worship. The surrounding place is abound in natural beauty with green woodlands and sparkling streams.

- By Rail: The nearest railway station to Basisthashram is located in Guwahati. Guwahati has trains plying to and from all corners of the country.
- By Road: Bus services connect Guwahati from most places within and out of the state of Assam. City buses are available from the Guwahati Bus stand behind the railway station though they have fairly irregular service. Basisthashram is about 12 kms from the city on its southernmost border. Taxis and auto rickshaws are available to the Basisthashram of Guwahati.
