Bordoibam Bilmukh Bird Sanctuary, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji


Bordoibam Bilmukh Bird Sanctuary, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji is an imminent sanctuary shared between the districts of Lakhimpur and Dhemaji of Assam. Nature lovers can get a glimpse of the state's diverse natural heritage on a visit to the proposed picturesque site of the Bordoibam Bilmukh Bird Sanctuary, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji.

The forthcoming sanctuary is moored at an elevation of approximately 50-55 m above men sea level. The region encompassing Bordoibam was formed after a massive earthquake that occurred in the year 1950 and shook the entire state. The tremors were so pronounced that it prompted the Subansiri River to change its course and that lead to the eventual formation of Bordoibam.

The sanctuary's site is located at a magnificent locale that overlooks a breathtaking fresh green backdrop. The idyllic green paradise is dotted by sylvan lakes and sparkling water bodies that accentuate the scenic rhapsodies of the surroundings.

Bordoibum Beelmukh Bird Sanctuary's proposed site is indeed a haven for tourists. In fact several aquatic birds like adjutant storks and fishing eagles flock to its inviting premises to seek refuge amidst its cozy sanctum during the freezing Siberian, Tibetan and European winters.
