The state of Haryana went for Legislative Assembly election on 13th October 2009 for 90 constituencies.The results for elections were declared on 22 October 2009.
The Indian National Congress has captured 40 seats which accounts for 35.1% of total vote share. The Indian National Lok Dal has bagged 31 seats in comparison to 9 seats in 2005 Assembly elections in Haryana. The Bharatiya Janata Party has won 4 seats for Ambala Cantt, Bhiwani, Sonipat and Tigaon constituency. The Bahujan Samaj Party won in the Jagadhri constituency with a margin of 4328 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal candidate won from Kalanwali constituency with a margin of 12544 votes. The independent candidates won 7 seats in the Legislative Assembly Elections.
