Bangalore is competing with all the five metros of India and still it is not crumbling under the population pressures other metros are. Bangalore is also ranked as the best city to live among all the five metro cities of India. The quality of life and climate in Bangalore, both are much better than the rest of the Indian metropolitan cities.

According to the tales, King Veeraballa of Vijayanagara (the nearby kingdom) named it as 'Benda Kalu Ooru' (place of baked beans), as baked beans used to be a favorite local dish here. However, after emerging as the IT hub and being termed as the silicon valley of India, it has become more famous for 'JavaBeans' (a software program for web development) rather than boiled beans. After being founded as a city in 1537, Bangalore has now become the third largest city in India after Mumbai and Delhi.

Hub of IT companies


The city has a population of over seven million and it is fast growing as an employment hub. Its climate is excellent, and it is known for its greenery and lakes. It is home to the most reputed Indian software companies such as Infosys, Wipro, Polaris, and HCL along with the development facilities of fortune 500 companies such as Apple, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, and SAP etc. Having a branch office in Bangalore has become a symbol of reputation for various MNCs. IT Park alone houses many Indian and foreign IT companies. It is truly an IT and BPO hub at present.

Educational institutions and government establishments
Bangalore is also second to none in terms of education. It has some of the leading educational institutions of India and the literacy rate of Bangalore is second highest in the country. Some of most reputed institutions such as the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) are located in Bangalore. It is also home to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and India's version of NASA, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

People prefer to work and live here because of its climate, gardens, lakes, parks, palaces, and ancient architecture. Bangalore Airport

Bangalore is connected to the rest of the country by air, rail and road transport. Bengaluru International Airport is located 35 km north of Bangalore's city centre, which is downtown MG Road. The suburban area near the airport is called Devanahalli and it is on NH7 (Bangalore-Hyderabad national highway). Bangalore airport handles 300 flights a day both domestic and international. It handles around 12 million passengers a year. The Cargo Village near the airport has 120 freight forwarders and 80 custom house agents.

You can hire private car rentals or the city bus service; The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) to reach to and from airport to downtown area. Apart from the outside the terminal area, you can also get an air-conditioned taxi from the taxi area and pay as per the metered fare. Regular long term parking is available in the parking area at Rs. 60 for every four hours, which is by far the most economic airport parking.
