A weekend getaway generally means a short trip yet inexpensive.

If you are looking out for a weekend getaway in Bangalore, then here are some of the places that you can choose from:
  • BRT Wildlife Sanctuary: 235 Kms, South of Bangalore and is well known for elephants, birds, bison and bear.

  • Bandipur National Park: 215 Kms, Southwest of Bangalore and is known for elephants, gaur, wild boars, sambhars, spotted deer or wild dogs, tiger and leopards.
  • Nagarhole National Park (Rajiv Gandhi National Park): 210 Kms, South of Bangalore and is famous for the wildlife. The park is situated between Kabini River and the Bandipur National Park.

  • Siddapur: 218 Kms, South-West of Bangalore. This place has some tribal population and has Cauvery river on one side and Dubare Reserve Forest on the other.

  • Mudumalai: 224 Kms, South of Bangalore. This place is full of exotic hills, valleys, ravines, falls and wild animals especially elephants.

  • Tirupati: 225 Kms, East of Bangalore. It is very famous for the Venkateswara temple. For sightseeing: Sila Thoranam, Chandragiri Fort, Alamelu Managapuram, Kapilatheertham Temple, Sri Kalahasti Temple, Srinivasa Mangapuram Temple, Kanipakkam Varasiddi Vinayaka Temple, Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park

  • Wayanad: 282 Kms, South West of Bangalore. This place is popular for hill stations, floral beauty and forests.

  • Ooty: 297 Kms, South-West to Bangalore. This is a very well known hill station.

    One can also pay visits to short distance places like the Nandi Hills, located at about 60 Kms from Bangalore. Also there is the Banerghatta National Park, 11 Kms from Bangalore.
