Janapada Loka

Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka, and the seventh largest city in India is proud to hold a number of museums that preserve the heritage of the state as well as India in general. Janapada Loka is such a museum that upholds the precious culture of the South.

Janapada Loka is a 15 acre complex that is situated 53 km on the Highway of Bangalore-Mysore. It was established with the initiatives of Mr H.L. Nage Gowda. Janapada Loka is a storehouse of Karnatic culture. The museum consists of

    The museum of Janapada Loka is a suitable place to realize the human relations with their folk tradition that has been handed down from one generation to the other. The museum displays the various artifacts related to the rural life of Karnataka. There are 5000 pieces of artifacts that reflect the cultural heritage of the state.

    The artifacts on exhibition includes the agricultural, fishing and hunting implements used by the village people in their daily lives. The exhibits range from the weapons used during the tribal combats to the various rural household devices that reflect both inventiveness and skill. The masks, dolls and shadow puppets are also on display in the Janapada Loka Museum.

    The Janapada Loka Museum, is a treasure trove which overwhelms the visiting tourists. The amazing pieces of artifacts and art belonging to the tribal of Karnataka takes one back to the days when it was a hey day for these tribal people, ruling on the Karnatic soil.
