Religious Places in Bangalore

Bangalore is rich in religious places and pilgrim centers much known for their magnificent carvings and sculptures. With extensive patronage from the reigning kings the temples abound in exquisite art in stone. The idols and elaborate carvings scraped out of rocks, and the paintings on the walls, echo Kannada art, culture and tradition. The columns, gateways and the metalwork deserve special mention.

Proofs of antiquity reveal mention of Bengaluru in epigraphs on inscription stones dating back to 890 AD. Modern Bangalore was founded by Kempe Gowda I of Vijayanagara Empire, but, in an effort to get back to the roots, have changed to Bengaluru once again. No wonder, such an old place with dedicated royal benefaction developed as a cherished place of temple architecture.

Travel to some of the most prominent religious places in Bangalore to see the Bull temple, Gavi Gangadeshwara temple and the ISKCON temple. Shiva is the most prominent deity worshipped in Bangalore and most of the temples are related to this Hindu God. Tour packages should also be tailored keeping in mind the cave temples of Bangalore. Experience a unique weekend with the musicians performing in the temple courtyards or just indulge in the peace and tranquility that encompasses the temples.

As such Bangalore is quite cosmopolitan in the sense that, here Hindus stays harmoniously in close quarters with the Muslims and Christians. Bangalore churches are magnificent with rich exteriors and lavish interiors.
