ISKCON Temple

ISKCON Temple is located on a hillock and spread over a total area of seven acres of land. Nearly 6,000 to 8,000 devotees visit the temple ISKCON Temple in Bangalore everyday from India and abroad. On weekends the number goes up to 20,000. The temple president Sri Madhu Pandit Dasa himself visualized the initial concept of the temple, who is a civil engineer from IIT (Mumbai) alongwith Jagat Chandra Dasa, another IITian from Mumbai.


ISKCON Temple in Bangalore is an amazing amalgam of glass and gopuram, a blend of contemporary and ancient styles. ISKCON Construction Department took the full responsibility of the construction of the temple. A special technology was used to build the gopurams using Ferro cement. The primary structure of the temple was made of steel and net of wire covered with cement and concrete. The exceptional use of glass in the temple.


It took seven years to build the ISKCON Temple in Bangalore, the construction was started in the year 1990 and completed in 1997. 600 skilled craftsmen devoted 10 million hours to build the temple and used 32000 cubic meters of stone, 131250 tonnes of cement and 1900 tonnes of steel. The idols of Lord Radha and Krishna are established on a sanctum of nearly 90 feet height. The total cost to build the temple was nearly Rs 32 crores. The deities of the temple were installed in a Prathistha ceremony in the month of April 1997. The Sri Radha Krishna Chandra Temple and Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Cultural Complex was inaugurated by the the President of India Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma on 31st May 1997.
