Bhopal, the capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh, is situated on the site of an ancient 11th century city called Bhojapal. The two lakes of Bhopal are also a sight to behold. The Gohal Mahal, situated on the banks of the Lakes, is a wondrous palace built in 1820 which marks the epitome of the intermingling of the Hindu and Islamic styles of architecture.
