Bihar Commissions

There are 2 major Bihar Commissions. These are Bihar Public Service Commission and Bihar State Election Commission. Both these Bihar Commissions carry out very important functions of the state of Bihar. Some important information about these two major Bihar Commissions are given below.

Bihar Commissions: Bihar Public Service Commission: The Bihar Public Service Commission, one of the 2 major Bihar Commissions carries out the following duties:

To select persons who can man the various posts and services of the state government..
Recruitment to posts and services under the state by conducting competitive examinations.
Recruitment to posts and services under the state government by selection which is done through interviews.
To advise on the suitability of officers for promotion, appointment and transfer-on-deputation.
To advise the government on all affairs related to recruitment methods in various posts and services.
Disciplinary action related to different civil services.
Miscellaneous matters ranging from reimbursement of legal expenses to grant of special pensions.

Bihar Commissions: State Election Commission: The Constitution of India has given Bihar State Election Commission the direction, superintendence and control of the preparation of Electoral rolls and process of conduct of elections by Rural and Urban Local Bodies.

Electronic Voting Machines, known as EVMs are used for polling in Municipal election at each polling station. Sufficient training has been imparted to all the polling personnel and Observers for proper handling of these machines. If the electorates face any problem in recording their vote through EVMs, then they are advised to contact their respective polling officers without hesitation. The basic duty of the Bihar State Election Commission is given below:
