Laloo Prasad Yadav: He is India's Railways Minister. He is the chief of the Rashtriya Janata Dal party. Laloo's path to success was facilitated by his strategic alliance between the impoverished Yadav caste and the Muslims. In 1977, Laloo was first elected to the Lok Sabha and has been elected three more times since then. He has been a member of the Bihar state legislature. In 1997, Laloo formed the Rashtriya Janata Dal after parting with the Janata Dal party.
Jai Prakash Narayan: He joined the Indian National Congress in 1929 on Jawaharlal Nehru's invitation. Mahatma Gandhi became his mentor in the Congress. At the time of Indian independence movement, he was jailed and tortured by the British several times. He rose to fame during Quit India movement. After independence and the death of Mahatma Gandhi, he, along with Basawon Singh and Acharya Narendra Dev, broke off from Congress and led the CSP to become the opposition Socialist Party, which later came to be known as Praja Socialist Party.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad: He stood first in the entrance examination at University of Calcutta. He completed his Doctorate in Law after which he won the title Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Gandhiji influenced many of Dr. Prasad's views, most importantly, untouchability. In April 1939, Dr. Prasad was elected President of the Congress. On August 15, 1947, India became free and Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected its President.
