Ingredients needed:
- 1 ½ cup Chana daal
- 1 ½ cup flour
- 2 tsp fresh ginger (chopped)
- 4 tsp chopped garlic cloves
- 2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- ½ tsp heeng powder
- Red chili (according to your taste )
- Salt
- Soak the 1 ½ cup chana daal overnight in a bowl of water.
- On the next day, first make a medium hard dough with the flour and keep it aside.
- Again clean the chana daal with fresh water and drain it out of the water.
- Put the chana daal in a food processor and mix all the masalas including heeng and other spices in it. Don't add water in the mixture. Once the daal is fully grinded take it out from the bowl.
- Make eight balls from the dough flour.
- Out of each ball make small but thick puries with rolling pin.
- Divide the daal equally and put them in the middle of the puries that you made earlier then stick the open portion of the daal by pressing the fingers and let the daal remain inside.
- Fill ¾ of a six quart pot with water and then boil it. When the water starts boiling add ½ tsp oil in it.
- Now put the Pitthas inside the water and keep it to boil. Don't uncover the pot up to 20 minutes.
- After 20 minutes take out the Pitthas from the water and keep in a bowl.
- You can serve them with dhania.
