Climate of Bikaner

Climate of Bikaner is very extreme i.e., it is either too hot or too cold. Since the city lies in a desert area it enjoys the desert like climate i.e., hot, dry and humid. Hence, it remains hot almost throughout the year except during the winter, when the nights are very cool.

During the summer season, the weather in Bikaner gets too hot. The temperatures go up as much as 46 degree Celsius during the day time. The nights are of some relief as the temperatures go down to around 36 degree Celsius.

The climate at Bikaner is worsened during summer season when hot winds along with dust storms swipe the whole desert area. These dust storms are also known as “loo” and they carry with them enormous amount of desert sand. Hence one should avoid going out in Bikaner during summer season.

Rainfall in Bikaner is very rare and even if it rains, the amount of waterfall recorded is very scanty. The average rainfall received is in between 26 to 44 centimeters. The rainy season lasts from July to September.

Bikaner climate takes a complete U-turn during the winter season. During this season the temperature around the day remains from 22 to 24 degree Celsius whereas the same in the night goes down to 1 or -1 degree Celsius.

Camel Festival of Bikaner is held in the month of January. The climate of Bikaner remains pleasant during this season and hence one can enjoy this festival with more charm.
