Bikaner Tourism

Bikaner Tourism is synonymous with endless stretches of golden desert sands and dunes peppered with majestic palaces, grand havelis and crenelated forts. The city is also at the hot seat of cultural extravaganzas as evinced by the festal fervor of the numerous fairs and festivals that occur throughout the year.

Tourism plays a pivotal role in the Bikaner economy and is responsible for generating a substantial portion of the net revenue. The palaces and forts of the stunning city are grandiloquence personified. The imposing Junagarh Fort built by Rana Rai Singh, the spectacular Lalgarh Palace as well as the beautifully embellished Bhandeswari Jain Temple are some of the architectural marvels that enrapture tourists.

Bikaner is opulent in temples and shrines that are no less elaborate in terms of intricacy. Be it the Shiv Bari Temple constructed under the generous patronage of Maharajah Doongar Singh, or the spellbinding charm of the cenotaphs (chatris) of the erstwhile monarchs that adorn the Devi Kund, or the Deshnok Temple, consecrated to the venerable Karni Mata and stands tall in its namesake Deshnok village, each of these shrines are a repository of historical sagas.

Several museums and galleries that are spread across the city are a hallmark of the city's glorious and magnificent martial history. A visit to this ancient city remains incomplete without strolling down the long galleries of the various museums whose glass cases recount the narratives of a bygone era. The noteworthy museums of Bikaner include the following:
  • Sadul Museum
  • Ganga Singh Museum

Bikaner's pride, the Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary is another must see destination of the exquisite city that vividly illustrates the city's diverse nature.
