Beaches in Chennai have their own importance-they share their boundary with Bay of Bengal. There are three prominent beaches in Chennai :

Marina Beach : The second longest beach in the world lies on the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu. The sandy shore is the largest crowd puller. You can enjoy your evening or morning walk with crispy sundal and murukku available at food stalls on the beach.

Elliot Beach : This beach also lies on the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu near Besant Nagar. This beach is the favorite destination for the Chennai youth who gather here in the evening which is why it is also called night beach. You can go for sea bathing in this beach of Chennai.

Covelong Beach : This beach has now turned into a beautiful resort owned by Taj Groups of Hotels and named as Fisherman's Cove Resort. The beach is located on the way to Mahabalipuram and is separated from the mainland by a canal running from Chennai to Mahabalipuram.
