Chhattisgarh Parliamentary Constituencies

Chhattisgarh is the twenty sixth state of India. The state of Chhattisgarh is located in the eastern part of India. The state capital of Chhattisgarh is Raipur. In November 2000, Chhattisgarh has been recognized as an independent state. Formerly, it was a part of the state of Madhya Pradesh. In the Chhattisgarh Parliamentary Constituencies play an important role in politics of India.

In Chhattisgarh, there are eleven Parliamentary Constituencies. The constituencies are

  • Surguja
  • Raigarh
  • Janjgir
  • Raipur
  • Mahasamund
  • Bastar
  • Sarangarh
  • Rajnandgaon
  • Kanker
  • Durg

    From the Parliamentary Constituencies of Chhattisgarh the canditates contest in the parliamentary elections. From each of the constituencies more than one canditate contest for the seats. From the Surjuga constituency, members from Bharatiya Janata Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party, Gondvana Gantantra Party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and independent allies contest the election.

    From the Raigarh constituency 5 candidates stood for the election. They were from Bahujan Samaj Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Gondvana Gantantra Party, Samajwadi Party and Indian National Congress. From the Parliamentary Constituency of Janjgir, 16 candidates stood for the election, of which 5 were independent candidates. Seven candidates stood from the Parliamentary Constituency of Bilaspur. Two of the candidates were from independent parties and others were from Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party, Gondvana Gantantra Party and Samajwadi Party.

    Among the Chhattisgarh Parliamentary Constituencies, the constituency of Sarangarh represented 11 candidates. Raipur was represented by 13 candidates. From the constituency of Mahasamund only 8 candidates from different parties of the state contested for the election. The Parliamentary Constituencies of Kanker, Bastar, Durg and Rajnandgaon were represented by six, eight, eleven and seven candidates respectively.
