The crucial meeting of the BCCI working committee was called off today as there were apprehensions that it would lead to widespread protests and PILs being filed if the previous Board President N Srinivasan returned to power. Moreover, after the Bombay High Court declared the BCCI panel probing the IPL spot fixing scandal as illegal, the board is more cautious and taking careful steps so that nothing tarnishes its image. With the two vice-presidents and some officials of the board threatening to resign not much was left for the cricket board to call off the meet and Dalmiya continuing in power at present as the acting president.
Salman Khan’s visa request for UK to shoot for his new film Kick has been rejected. The director of the movie is Sajid Nadiadwala. Salman was to start shooting for this movie last week. It is being said that at present the pending cases against the actor may have been the reason for the denial. There are charges on Salman for shooting two chinkaras and a blackbuck illegally during the shooting of the movie “Hum Saath Saath Hain” in October 1998. In fact, Salman had also spent some days in imprisonment in April 2006 and in August 2007. There is grave charge on Salman for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in a hit-and-run case for which he will be tried too.
