Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde reacted on Arvind Kejriwal's list of corrupt politicians

Arvind Kejriwal's list of "corrupt politicians” includes the name of Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde. Shinde reverted back and said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is also going through the charges for not using the funds for his NGO properly. He added that funds for NGO were used to gain political mileage by him. The High Court has even asked a clarification on the matter from Kejriwal. But still Kejriwal is unable to furnish the details. On Friday Kejriwal had disclosed his list of corrupt politicians that included the name of many big politicians such as Rahul Gandhi, Kapil Sibal, Shinde and Nitin Gadkari. He called them corrupt and said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will field strong candidates against them in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Earlier also Shinde had said against Kejriwal by calling him "Veda Mukhyamantri" (mad chief minister). He recalled his days in the police force and compared it to Kejriwal’s latest sit-in. He said that when he was in Kherwadi police station in Mumbai's Bandra area, he could not get leave because of riot. Same like this leave of policemen had been cancelled because of Kejriwal’s dharna.

NTPC may cut power supply in Delhi if not paid

NTPC Ltd is the top producer of electricity in India and distributes the power to other companies which then supply it to the end consumers. On Saturday NTPC had said that it will cut the supply to the distribution company BSES Yamuna Power Ltd that gives out electricity to some parts of New Delhi. The cut in the power supply will be because of non-payment of dues to NTPC. NTPC Ltd has made it clear that distribution company BSES Yamuna Power Ltd which sells electricity to the central and eastern parts of New Delhi must clear all its dues otherwise there will be a power cut from February 11. BSES Yamuna Power Ltd, an arm of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd had earlier expressed its inability to pay to power generation companies because of low tariffs and a deficit in revenues. Because of this there could be 10 hours long power cut in a day. This is adding to the problems of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who had promised to bring down the electricity tariffs. Recently Kejriwal has asked the state auditors to audit the accounts of power distribution companies to check if they are earning any profit or not. The companies have gone to the court against this move. Consumers in Delhi also get power from BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. Reacting on the power cut Kejriwal has warned BSES Yamuna Power Ltd with the cancellation of its licenses.

The AAP's success is not the victory of any party or ideology - Janardan Dwivedi

Congress General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi called emergence of the AAP as a "warning and a challenge". Dwivedi added that this way of governing state is anarchy and it cannot produce an “ideal system”. He even made comments on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and said that the leader of the state is forcing his leadership on others in BJP. But he did not said anything on the internal matters of the party. Dwivedi even said that wandering away in politics means being cancelled out by people. He added that success of the Aam Aadmi Party is not the success of any party. The AAP won because people were not happy with any of the big political party. So it is not the victory of ideology but public’s anger. Common public was unhappy with the governance and the system. So it is the victory of this not of any party. He added "the spirit of India is democratic and non-communal” and said that democracy and anti-communalism is still alive in India. Commenting on why Congress is not able to win at places where the party used to rule he said that wrong candidates were projected and at the same time no new leadership style was created by the party that led to this condition.

US prosecutors want to follow case against Devyani Khobragade

US prosecutors are showing intentions to follow visa fraud case against Devyani Khobragade as she is no longer enjoying the diplomatic immunity. They told a Manhattan court about the same. This is coming up when India and US are trying to pacify everything. The US state department is regularly saying that Khobragade has violated immigration laws and furthermore the charges won’t be dropped by the prosecutors in any case. About 12 more India diplomats in US have Indian helpers at home. India is asking US to make sure that no such charges against these diplomats and others in future would occur without prior diplomatic efforts to solve the case. US attorney Preet Bharara filed the documents to follow visa fraud case which clearly states that Khobragade no longer enjoys the diplomatic immunity so the case must be reopened.
