Aam Aadmi Party’s Arvind Kejriwal has accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of resorting to personal attacks not only on the AAP chief but to his entire caste. Kejriwal said that in a recent cartoon-based BJP advertisement, BJP has abused caste or ‘gotra’ of entire Aggarwal community. He also gave the saffron party two hours deadline to apologise, otherwise he threatened to file complaint with Election Commission against BJP for breaching Model Code of Conduct. Yesterday BJP’s numero uno Narendra Modi in a public rally accused AAP of believing in agitations and being media savvy only.
Union Government has indicated that they are contemplating the idea of appointing Special Investigation Team for probing 1984’s infamous Anti-Sikh riots of Delhi. The announcement comes, just days before Delhi goes to poll. Though Manjit Singh GK, chief of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Committee, as well as leader of Akali Dal, have welcomed the announcement, Aam Aadmi Party and Indian National Congress have called this move an 'electoral ploy' of Bharatiya Janata Party for wooing Sikh voters in Delhi, which goes to poll on February 7.
Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India, during her maiden four days visit to China has proposed a six points template for improved ties between the two largest emerging economies of the world – China and India. During her speech in India-China Media forum, Swaraj stressed on action oriented approach, fulfillment of common aspirations, expansion of strategic communication, development of enhanced cooperation, convergence of interests (global, regional, and common), and broad based bilateral engagement for bringing in ‘Asian Century’. In an unprecedented move U.S. President Barack Obama, during a popular U.S. talk show, said that Chinese government should not be threatened by improving ties between India and the U.S.
Maithripala Sirisena, newly elected President of Sri Lanka, is all set to visit India on February 16 to boost ties. Reports claim that it will be a two days visit and the dates were fixed after consultation between the two neighbouring countries through diplomatic channels. It will be Maithripala Sirisena’s first official foreign visit as President of Sri Lanka. Sources claim that after Sirisena’s February visit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Sri Lanka on March 13 and will stay there till March 15.
Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha’s President Anurag Thakur has added a feather in his cap by convincing more than 100 corporate honchos to join Bharatiya Janata Party. These CEOs joined the party on Sunday in the presence of Amit Shah, National President of BJP, and Anurag Thakur. Lufthansa’s Perveiz Alamgir Khan, AT&T’s Neeta Agarwal, AIKON Group’s Jagpreet Lamba, and Qatar Airways’ country head Henry Moses are some of the CEOs who joined the saffron party. While welcoming the business behemoths, Amit Shah assured them that from April next year, GST will be a reality.

Shubham Banerjee, 13-year old Indian-origin wonder boy who stunned the world by inventing portable Braille printer of low cost, is now reportedly working on a ‘pretty cool’ product that is going to help millions of visually impaired people. Though he has not divulged anything about his work on the new product, he said that he is working on a product that will help visually impaired people in the developing countries. Shubham, during a telephonic interview, said that he and his company are in the final stage of releasing low-cost portable Braille printer in the market by mid-2015.
Leander Paes-Martina Hingis duo won mixed doubles tournament of Australian Open 2015. The Indian-'Swiss Miss' partnership humiliated Kristina Mladenovic - Daniel Nestor by winning the Final match in straight sets (6-4, 6-3). It was 41-year old Leander’s fifteenth grand slam title. President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, and Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi congratulated Paes on his achievement of recent feat. Leander Paes won Australian Open mixed double title for the third time. He first won it in 2003 by partnering with Martina Navratilova and in 2010 with Cara Black.
Reports claim that BCCI has asked both Dhawal Kulkarni and Mohit Sharma to remain available for World Cup preparatory camp that is due to start in Adelaide from tomorrow. Indian cricket board has taken the decision because of the long list of injury in the World Cup squad and more than impressive showing by Mohit Sharma during last match of tri-series concluded recently. A report published in a leading Mumbai daily claims that Mohit Sharma is likely to replace injured Ishant Sharma in the World Cup tournament of 2015.
Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India, during her four days China visit asked China to open up its market for products produced by Indian companies. In fact, she also assured China of easing business environment for Chinese companies. During her speech, she said that China is India’s largest trade partner in terms of goods. She also reiterated India’s concerns of widening trade deficit between the two countries. While addressing India-China Media Forum, Sushma Swaraj vouched for enhancing economic cooperation between the two emerging economies and taking it to qualitative new high.
Purchasing Manager’s Index, published by HSBC today, shows that manufacturing activities in India has grown in the month of January but at a much slower pace witnessed in the last 3 months. In January 2015, PMI was 52.9 points in comparison to 2-year high of 54.5 points witnessed in the month of December 2014. Chief India economist of HSBC, Pranjul Bhandari, has said that the slower rate of growth in PMI may be attributed to consolidation after upward movements witnessed in the months of November and December.
Harley Davidson’s 700cc monster bikes seems to be getting formidable challenge from India’s Royal Enfield, at least that’s what global sales figure of both companies point at. In the year 2014, Royal Enfield (having its manufacturing units in Chennai) sold 3 lakh units globally in comparison to global sales of 2.67 lakh by Harley Davidson. Siddhartha Lal, CEO and MD, has said that Royal Enfield is determined to strengthen its presence in the North American and European market. Sales of Royal Enfield increased from 1,13,432 units in 2012 to 3,02,591 units in 2014.
As National President of BJP, Amit Shah, took direct charge of Delhi Assembly election campaign a few days back by announcing mobilization of national leaders and cabinet ministers in the rally, election campaign in-charge of Kiran Bedi (CM candidate of BJP), Narendra Tandon, resigned from the party by accusing Bedi of showing ‘dictatorial attitude’. While speaking to the media Tandon said that he tried to convey his concerns to the top leadership of BJP but to no avail. Kiran Bedi today tweeted ‘Kiran’s Blueprint’, only hours before BJP is expected to release its ‘vision document’.
