Few days back Justice Hasnain Masoodi’s single bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court upheld a state government order of hoisting J&K flag along with Indian national flag, owing to special constitutional status enjoyed by J&K, on all official vehicles and buildings in the state. BJP, a constituent of the PDP-BJP coalition ruling J&K assembly, challenged the verdict and a 2-member Division Bench of J&K High Court stayed the single bench’s order. Ex-CM of J&K Omar Abdullah asked current CM Mufti Mohammed Sayeed to defend J&K’s dignity by thwarting "nefarious" plans of BJP in doing away with Article 370. Chief spokesperson of PDP, Mehboob Beg, said that dual flag hoisting in J&K is mandated by the constitution and there is no need of any court order regarding that.
