India partially agreed to US demand for initiation of talks regarding ban of refrigerant gases known as HFCs. These gases are short lived in nature but have strong adverse atmospheric impact. However, it is learnt that government officials who were involved in the negotiation process suggested against agreeing to US demand currently.

Anonymous whistle-blower system has been put in place by National Stock Exchange by India, which is similar to Dodd-Frank Whistleblower Programme of the US. This mechanism of US Securities and Exchange Commission has a good rate of success because it allows tip-offs of malpractices over toll-free numbers. Around 3,000 tip-offs have been received from fifty five foreign countries. Therefore whistle blowers in India can now provide tip-offs on wrongdoings (mainly violation of regulations and market manipulation) anonymously.
