Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited L&T Workers' Residential Complex in Saudi Arabia and ate meal with Indian construction workers. He visited all-women TCS training centre in Riyadh. Prime Minister addressed a select group of Saudi and Indian business leaders where he wooed Saudi businesses to invest in a wide array of projects (defence sector, railway, agriculture, energy, and health). PM Modi said that retrospective taxation is a matter of past and GST is “about to happen”. He also met Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and discussed expanding strategic partnership of India and Saudi Arabia in counter-terrorism, investment, and trade.
Siddharth Nath Singh, BJP National Secretary and co-observer for West Bengal, has alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee allowed IVRCL to continue with the construction of Vivekananda overpass (partially collapsed few days back killing 26 people) despite having the information that the company is blacklisted. Singh said that suspicion over a quid pro quo arrangement between TMC and IVRCL can’t be done away with as the sub-contractor of Vivekananda Flyover project is close to TMC. Sandhya Enterprise (the sub-contractor) is owned by Rajat Bakshi, nephew of TMC leader Sanjay Bakshi. CM Mamata Banerjee asserted that her government doesn’t shy away from taking responsibility in case of “real injustice” and acts against the culprits.
In the report published by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Manufacturing Value Added (MVA) for the year 2015 has been found to be 7.6 per cent in comparison to previous year. This improved manufacturing scenario of India comes at a time when global growth rate of manufacturing in 2015 is struggling around 2.8 per cent. With these figures in place, India’s ranking moved three places up from the previous 9th position to 6th position in the list of world's 10 largest manufacturing countries.

Elon Musk, CEO of Silicon Valley-based electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors, said that his company is planning to take orders in India for its most affordable car – Model 3. Reports say that Tesla Motors is going to price the vehicle at $35,000 and is likely to be available in India by 2017. In a tweet Elon Musk also said that besides India, the new model will be delivered in other countries such as Ireland, Singapore, New Zealand, SK, South Africa, and Brazil.
India’s leading woman shuttler Saina Nehwal lost in the semi-final match of India Open Super Series badminton tournament to Olympic Champion Li Xuerui of China 20-22, 21-17, 19-21 in New Delhi’s Siri Fort Complex. Li secured lead by winning the first game 22-20 against the 26-year Indian. Saina bounced back to win the second game but lost the fast paced third game to the Chinese. Li Xuerui has till now played 11 matches against Saina Nehwal and leads with a massive 11-2 advantage.
An NIA officer named Mohammad Tanzil Ahmed, who was associated with the investigation of Pathankot terror attack, has been mercilessly shot dead by two bike-borne assailants in Uttar Pradesh. Reports say that the assailants fired 21 shots at the officer and 4 shots at his wife. None of the couple’s children were hurt. NIA IG Sanjeev Kumar, while briefing the media, called it a “planned attack”. ADG, UP Police, Daljit Chowdhry told media that they are investigating the incident and trying to nab the culprits by sealing borders.
