Energy Minister of Rajasthan, Pushpendra Singh, assured a section of Rajput community that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film Padmavati will not be released in the state until screened to the community members. The announcement comes a month after a Rajput group, Karni Sena, roughed up Bhansali and his crew while they were shooting at Jaigarh Fort. While Rajputs allege distortion of historical facts by Bhansali, many historians including Irfan Habib say that Padmavati (or Rani Padmini) is only a work of fiction, whose earliest mention can be found in epic poems of Malik Muhammad Jayasi.

However, he will not visit Palestine during the tour, confirmed by Adnan Abu Alhaija, Palestinian ambassador to India. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will be visiting India just before the Indian Prime Minister sets off for Israel.
