Swift of Maruti Suzuki and Datsun Go of Nissan gets a Thumb Down

Global New Car Assessment Programme has given a thumbs down to the vehicle safety initiatives for two new car models. The first one is Datsun Go of Nissan and the other is Swift of Maruti Suzuki. NCAP is an independent charity that is based in United Kingdom. The organisation has said that the car safety measures in both the cars are inadequate and may cause life threatening injuries.  

Government asks RBI to Ease Institutional Funding Norms for Infrastructure Projects

Union government is serious about giving impetus to infrastructure projects. Finance ministry has requested RBI governor to make norms more flexible so that banks can finance the stalled important infrastructure projects. Many regard institutional lending practices in India as too stringent.

Indian Trading Markets Remain Closed as India Celebrates Muharram

All the trading markets in India are closed on 4 November 2014 as India celebrates Muharram. The markets dealing with commodities, foreign exchange, equity, and money remain closed for the day. However, global market gave mixed signals. While Nikkei rose sharply on the news of sudden monetary easing by Japan; slip in Wall Street and below expected performance of China dampened the Asian market.

Obstacles Cleared, It's Time for Another Election in Delhi

Delhi assembly will be dissolved. This decision has been taken by Union Government after Lt. Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung recommended dissolution of the assembly and accordingly sent report to the President of India. He created the final report after BJP, INC, and AAP expressed their inability to form a stable government in Delhi with the existing number of seats. The next Delhi assembly election may be held in the month of February.

Mallikarjun Kharge becomes member of Committee for Choosing Chief Information Commissioner

Parliamentary leader of INC, Mallikarjun Kharge, was not allowed to become opposition leader because of the lesser number of seats attained by his party. However, the senior Congress leader is included in the three member committee that will choose the next Chief Information Commissioner. The committee will be headd by the Prime Minister himself. The third member of this important committee is Arun Jaitley.

Business Not As Usual in West Bengal

West Bengal TMC’s legislature, Tapan Chatterjee, from Burdwan district’s Manteshwar, was caught on camera where he claimed that some of the leaders of his own party are extorting large sums of money from business people. Filming of the speech was done when the concerned legislature was delivering speech before a crowd of 200 ruling party’s supporters and workers. Trinamool government is left red faced, especially at a time when it is trying to change the pathetic business environment of West Bengal and woo businesses.

Pentagon Report Points out Disturbing Facts about Use of Terror Groups by Pakistan's Administation

Pentagon has released a report that points Pakistan’s desperate attempt of using different terrorist groups to counter balance superior Indian army’s  prowess over Pakistan's army. It is a very significant development that Pentagon has acknowledged operation of different terrorist groups carried out from Pakistani soil. The report also says that use of such proxy forces are not only detrimental to Afghanistan but also to the entire region.

Curfew in J&K after Army Firing and Civilian Deaths

Curfew has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district after two civilians died from firing done by Army. The curfew was necessitated especially as the state is bound for polls. Security forces are not keeping a single stone unturned to ensure ‘peace’ in the northern state of India. Defence Minister as well as army regretted the killings.

Indian Concerns Downplayed by China

Recently, Chinese submarines (warships) made port calls to Colombo Port in Sri Lanka. China is trying to expand its influence in Sri Lanka to counteract the threat perception from US Military Base at Diego Garcia in Indian Ocean. As Sri Lanka is just a few kilometers away from Indian shores, India had expressed concerns. However, China has downplayed the incident by terming it absolutely normal and ‘nothing unusual’.

One of the well awaited smartphones that promise to kill other flagship smartphones in India is all set to be launched in India. One plus Global is bringing its OnePlus One mobile handset in India, whose priced has been fixed at a paltry Rs. 25,000, half the price of the leading flagship smartphones from other manufacturers. Most importantly, this handset will come with an internal storage capacity of 64GB.

ICC Test Team Rankings Released – India Fares Poorly

Recently released ICC Test Team Rankings show that India has slipped to 6th position as Indian cricket Team is stressing more on T-20 formats of games in the last few years. However, Pakistan has improved its ranking and has climbed to 3rd position, which is the best position Pakistan cricket team has achieved in the last seven years.

Sachin's Blast to the Past

Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar has some interesting stuff written in his autobiography. He called Indian cricket team’s Australian Coach Greg Chappell ‘Ringmaster’as well as dictatorial. Sachin accused that Greg wanted to rule Indian cricket rather than coach the team. As per Sachin, Greg once proposed him to become captain by replacing Dravid from captaincy. Ex- Indian Skipper of Indian cricket team Saurav Ganguly said that he is not surprised by Tendulkar’s comments.  However, Chappell said that the claims made by Tendulkar are untrue.
