$9 billion investment by ONGC for producing oil and gas from Krishna Godavari Basin

Krishna Godavari basin block of Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) will soon be brought into production as ONGC is going to invest more than $9 billion in the project to make it live. In the Block KG-DWN-98/2, ONGC has made 11 discoveries. The block is located just adjacent to Reliance Industries' KG-D6 Block and Gujarat State Petroleum Corp's Deendayal gas field. The block has two portions - Northern Discovery Area (NDA) and Southern Discovery Area (SDA). It is expected that Northern Development Area of Block KG-DWN-98/2 will produce 2.5-3 million tons of oil annually and 9-10 million standard cubic meters per day of gas. Total oil reserve in this block is expected to be 92.30 million tons and it is expected that total gas reserves is 97.568 billion cubic meters. Cairn Energy India Ltd holds 10% in the block and the rest has been bought by ONGC. Before selling its stake four discoveries were made by Cairn and these are Padmavati, Kanakdurga, N-1 and R-1 (Annapurna). Whereas ONGC made six discoveries - E-1, A1, U1, W1, D-1 and KT-1 in NDA. In addition to this it made the first ultra-deepwater discovery UD-1. A floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit will be used for producing oil and gas from NDA. Investment plan for UD-1 will be submitted individually.

3D version of Sholay hit the screen and earned Rs 1.5 crore on the opening day

The 3D version of Bollywood classic 'Sholay' has been released on Saturday but the start was not as good as expected. On its opening day i.e. 3rd January, the movie earned Rs 1.50 crore which is much less than the anticipated start. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh used twitter to share the information regarding the film’s box office collection. The tweet goes as "#Sholay3D Fri 1.50 cr,".  3D Sholay Producer Sascha Sippy, (grandson of G.P. Sippy the original producer of Sholay) has said in one of the interviews that it costs Rs 20 crore including the cost of restoration and conversion to make 3D version of Sholay. The original 'Sholay' starred Amitabh Bachchan-Dharmendra was directed by Ramesh Sippy son of G.P. Sippy. At that time the movie was made in two years but it took three years to restore and convert it to 3D. Sascha said that Rs 20-22 crore has been spent on making this 3D version of the movie. Original Sholay was made in the budget of Rs 4 crore.

Building, Ruby Residency has collapsed in Goa

An under-construction building in Canacona town, Goa collapsed left 14 dead, many injured and still dozens are trapped under the debris of the building. Canacona town is located at a distance of 60 kilometers from Panaji. According to the police, part of the three storey building collapsed when the workers were working on the project. The building in question is Ruby Residency located in Chawdi ward of Canacona. For relief and rescue work Army has been called in. FIR has been registered against the contractor and the builder. A Navi Mumbai-based real estate development firm, Bharat Developers and Realtors Pvt. Ltd were carrying out the construction. According to the official there are dozens trapped under debris. Gas cutters and cranes are used by the health and fire service departments to get to the trapped workers. Officials have asked the police to nab the persons responsible for the accidents. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that FIR has been filed against the builder, contractor and the municipal engineer in-charge.

AAP's Nationwide membership drive from Jan 10 to Jan 26

No decision has yet been made regarding the number of seats from which the Aam Aadami Party (AAP) will contest in the Lok Sabha elections.  But today they preclude contesting all 545 seats in Lok Sabha election. They will contest from the maximum number of seats but how many has still not been decided. The AAP has also declared its nationwide fortnight campaign starting from January 10 in which new members can enroll themselves. Party recently held its two days national executive meeting. After the meeting senior AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said that the party will contest from 15-10 states and try projecting good candidates. Arvind Kejriwal will be the face of the party but he said that it is too early to announce the name of party's prime ministerial candidate. Yadav also said that the AAP will contest from all the 90 constituencies in the coming assembly election in Haryana. It will also contest from the 10 Lok Sabha seats of the state. Due to overwhelming response, the party has decided to start a drive - Main Bhi Aam Aadmi. This membership drive will start from January 10 to January 26. There is no membership fee to take part in this nationwide campaign.

AAP will contest in the coming Lok Sabha election

With the over whelming victory in Delhi, the AAP is now ready to take part in the coming Lok Sabha elections. The decision to take part in Lok Sabha election from the maximum possible seats has been unveiled by the AAP. But the face of the party and Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal won’t participate in the same because of his responsibilities as CM. AAP leader Prashant Bhushan said that the AAP will fight the Lok Sabha elections and contest from the maximum number of states. The list of the AAP candidates contesting the general elections will be released by 15th February. The AAP leaders are now making plans and strategies for the 2014 general elections. Kejriwal said that he won’t contest the Lok Sabha elections but will campaign for the party. After its victory in Delhi elections, the AAP has hopes to hit the Lok Sabha elections with the same impact. In its first ever polls, the AAP managed to win 28 seats out of 70 in Delhi elections and formed the government with the support of eight MLAs of the Congress. The party is also stating that it will fight all the seats in general assembly election from Gujarat and Harayana. Bhushan said that the AAP will field candidates in Lok Sabha elections where party has sound structure and good candidates. For this party is inviting the honest candidates.

Performance is my prime focus – Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir is struggling to be a part of the national team who has recently been not selected for the upcoming tour to New Zealand. He said that he still has the strong desire to be a part of the team. He wished luck to the rest of the team for the tournament. Gambhir said that he plays not to be back again but he plays as he still has that urge to perform. He is determined of his way back to team but without any selfish route by which he means scoring heavily just on flat tracks. He said that he had never played on a flat track. If he would have done that then he would have scored 900. Gambhir scored 578 runs in the Ranji Trophy this season. He has not responded on his No 3 position as an opener, a call taken by skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He said that his job is to play and score runs and he will keep on doing that. Moreover he believes in continuous improvement rather than a finished product. Gambhir said that he believes in focus and intensity. Gambhir further added that he cannot tell what the future has stored for him but he surely wants to concentrate for Vijay Hazare Trophy and IPL.
