PM Modi to hold First Ever Obama-Style Townhall Meeting with CitizensToday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to deliver his first ever Obama-styled Townhall meeting for an hour with the citizens today. The day long citizen engagement programme is organised to commemorate 2 years of launch of government's citizen engagement platform called MyGov. Before PM Modi’s hour long address, the programme had 4 sessions along with a panel discussion, revolving around the theme "Do, Discuss and Disseminate". During the 4th session, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley referred social media as an empowering and accountable tool. IT Minister Ravishankar Prasad, after inaugurating the programme, regarded Digital India as the destiny of India and digital democracy its essence.   

Vijay Rupani to be sworn in as Gujarat CM Tomorrow at 12.40 PM IST

A day after Vijay Rupani was elected by BJP MLAs as leader of the Assembly, the Chief Minister designate met Governor O P Kohli for staking claim to form the new government in Gujarat. BJP state in-charge Dinesh Sharma announced that Rupani, reportedly closest aide of National President of BJP Amit Shah in Gujarat, will be sworn in as the state’s new CM tomorrow at 12.40pm IST. Deputy Chief Minister designate Nitin Patel along with other state BJP leaders met the governor today.

Chinese Foreign Minister to visit India seeking Support on South China Sea Talks

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is all set to make a 3-day India visit, starting from August 12 to ensure that Prime Minister Narendra Modi doesn’t join other countries during upcoming G20 meeting, to be held in early September, in raising the controversial issue of South China Sea. The event is going to be dramatic as China blocked India’s bid to join the NSG club in recent past. China is reportedly going to seek India’s support in the South China Sea issue as an international tribunal rejected the former’s claim on ownership of areas located in South China Sea.

Bank of England's Stimulus Plan makes Indian Stock Market Rally

After Bank of England (BoE) announced stimulus plan along with cutting borrowing cost for protecting Britain’s economy after Brexit fallout, Indian bourses witnessed strong rally with sharp foreign investment inflows. Yesterday benchmark BSE Sensex increased by 363.98 points (1.3 per cent) to close above 28,000 (28,078.35) points. National Stock Exchange’s Nifty 50 also witnessed a strong rally as it closed at 8,683.15 points, jumping by 1.5 per cent or 132 points. Highest gainer was Hero MotoCorp, witnessing gain of 5 per cent.

Bindra-led Largest Indian Contingent exudes Confidence at Rio Olympics Opening

118 Indian athletes (largest ever contingent of Indian athletes in any Olympic games) today exuded confidence during the spectacular opening event of Rio Olympics 2016. The Indian contingent was led by Olympic gold medallist and ace Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra. The contingent includes the veteran tennis sensation Leander Paes, who is going to participate in a record 7th Olympics. Indian contestants to participate during today’s games will be Ayonika Paul and Apurvi Chandela (Women's 10m air rifle), Dattu Baban Bhokanal (Men's single sculls - Heats), Men’s hockey team, Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna (Men's Tennis doubles), Sania Mirza and Prarthana Thombare (Women's Tennis doubles), and Manika Batra (women's Table Tennis singles).

CBI says Chhota Rajan killed Journalist J Dey as he was about to Write Book on Gangsters

While filing supplementary chargesheet before a special MCOCA court against extradited don Chhota Rajan for allegedly masterminding killing of journalist J Dey in 2011, CBI said in the motive of murder that the gangster ordered the hit as the slain journalist was all set to write two books (one of which was titled “Chindis— Rags to Riches”) on gangsters. CBI also said that Rajan killed him because the book would have exposed the real face of gangster Rajan, hiding behind the patriotic mask for protecting himself from the ire of other gangsters including Dawood.
